IPL 2018: KKR thrash RCB by 6 wickets

Kolkata Knight Riders beat Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets in match number 29 of 2018 IPL at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Batting first, Kohli and his boys posted 175/4 but their bowling woes continued as Kolkata Knight Riders chased down the target with 5 balls to spare. Here are the interesting stats from this fixture.

RCB didn't start off well tonight

Royal Challengers scored just 40 runs in the power-play today. This is RCB's lowest total in the power-play. However, this is also the first time they didn't lose a wicket during this period. This was RCB's first 50+ opening stand this season. Interestingly, this was the fourth consecutive match, where the IPL captain (Iyer, Sharma, Rahane, Kohli) remained not out on a 50+ score.

Birthday boy dismissed on a duck

Big-hitting West Indian Andre Russell, who turned 30 today, was dismissed on a duck on his very first delivery. Russell, however, bagged 3 wickets for 31 runs in his three over spell.

Not all hope is lost for Bangalore

It's not all over for Royal Challengers Bangalore. They can still qualify for the top four. Kohli and his men need to rally their forces and win 6 of the remaining 7 matches. They have done it before in 2011 when they won 7 consecutive games and went on to play the final. We can expect a strong comeback from Kohli's troops.
