Jay Shah, son of India's Home Minister, Amit Shah, has been elected as the new secretary of the board, while Brijesh Patel is the new IPL chairman.

Meanwhile, Arun Dhumal, younger brother of former BCCI president Anurag Thakur, is the new treasurer of the board.

Following this, they would be given a three-year cooling-off period, having served six consecutive years at the national and state level, a clause brought into the new constitution after recommendations by the RM Lodha Committee.

He has also been serving as the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) since 2015, following the demise of former President Jagmohan Dalmiya.

Meanwhile, Ganguly had stated that he wants to emulate the success of Dalmiya.

  • Meanwhile, CoA chief Vinod Rai too expressed his happiness over Ganguly's appointment and feels that his experience as CAB President would come in handy.

"There is no one better than him to take this position. We are agnostic about the family and other things. Our job was to hold the elections as per the constitution and we have done that," he said.

  • Prior to the election, Ganguly stated that one of his prime agendas would be to discuss the revenue structure with the International Cricket Council (ICC).

"India generates 70-80 percent of the revenue. So, that's going to be one of the agendas. Talks and discussions need to happen and we have to find a solution to this, as this is not leading anywhere," he said.
