T20 WC 2026: Four Indians in ICC's Team of Tournament
What's the story
The ICC has announced the 'Team of the Tournament' for the recently concluded Men's T20 World Cup 2026. The team was selected by a panel comprising West Indies legend Ian Bishop, former England captain Eion Morgan, commentator Natalie Germanos, ICC's Gaurav Saxena, and senior Sri Lankan journalist Rex Clementine. The selection process took into account players' performances throughout the month-long tournament. The team comprises four players from Team India, which won the tournament after beating New Zealand in the final.
Openers
Openers: Sahibzada Farhan and Sanju Samson
Despite Pakistan's inconsistent run, opener Sahibzada Farhan shone brightly. He scored a record 383 runs (SR: 160.25), the most by a batter in a T20 WC. He also became the first batter with multiple tons in the tournament. India's Sanju Samson joins him at the top. The Player of the Tournament, Samson, hammered 321 runs from just five games at 80.25. Samson, who wasn't even in the starting XI, now has the most runs for India in a T20 WC.
BattingĀ
Ishan Kishan at No. 3
India's Ishan Kishan features at No. 3 in the team. He made a mark with his aggressive batting in the top order, scoring three half-centuries, including a brilliant 77 against Pakistan. South African captain Aiden Markram follows him at No. 4. Markram led his team well, scoring three half-centuries. He led South Africa's unbeaten run before New Zealand thrashed them in the semi-finals. Therefore, Markram is the captain of this side.

All-rounders: Hardik Pandya, Will Jacks, and Jason Holder
India's Hardik Pandya, England's Will Jacks, and West Indies' Jason Holder bolster the all-rounder section in this team. Hardik hammered 217 runs and took nine wickets throughout the tournament. Holder was another star of the tournament with his all-round skills. He took 10 wickets besides his cameos from the bat.
