VHT: Vaibhav Suryavanshi breaks AB de Villiers's List A record
What's the story
Bihar teen sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has broken legend AB de Villiers's world record for the fastest 150 in List A cricket. The Indian cricketer unlocked this milestone in Bihar's 2025/26 Vijay Hazare Trophy Plate league opener against Arunachal Pradesh at JSCA Oval Ground, Ranchi. The 14-year-old raced to his 150 off just 59 balls, surpassing De Villiers'ss previous record of 64 balls. He departed for an 84-ball 190.
Century
Suryavanshi hammers 36-ball ton
Suryavanshi's 36-ball century became the second-fastest ever by an Indian batter in List A cricket (as of publication). He closed in on Punjab batter Anmolpreet Singh, who scored a 35-ball ton against Arunachal last season. However, Suryavanshi's own teammate Sakibul Gani (32 balls) surpassed the two later in the day to top the spot. In another match, Jharkhand captain Ishan Kishan hammered a 33-ball ton.
Batting blitz
Suryavanshi's explosive innings included 15 sixes
Suryavanshi's innings was a display of aggressive batting. He hammered 15 sixes in his knock of 190 (84). This puts him behind only Rohit Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad (16 each) among Indians for the most sixes in a List A innings. The match was played just three days after India's Asia Cup Under-19 final loss to Pakistan in Dubai, but Suryavanshi showed no signs of pressure as he took on the Arunachal bowlers from the start.
