  • Pakistan were fined by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday for slow over rate during their ICC World Cup 2019 clash against England.

    Further two English players, Jofra Archer and Jason Roy were fined for violating the code of conduct.

    Notably, Pakistan won the match by 14 runs at Trent Bridge to end their 11-match losing streak.

    While skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed was fined 20% of his match fee, his team-mates were fined 10%, as the ICC considered it to be 'a minor over-rate breach'.

    However, if Pakistan breach the conduct once more in this World Cup, Sarfaraz could be suspended from playing their next game.

  • As for England, while they took 19 minutes more to finish their bowling, there were not penalized for over-rate.

    Instead, it was pacer Jofra Archer and opener Jason Roy, who were fined 15% of their match fee, each.

    While Roy breached Article 2.3 of ICC's conduct, which stands for using audible obscenities, Archer breached Article 2.8 for showing dissent.

  • As for Roy's incident, it happened during the 14th over, when he misfielded.

    Following the incident, he was heard uttering an obscenity.

    Archer, on the other hand, was bowling, when one of his deliveries was deemed wide by the umpire, as he expressed his dissatisfaction.

    As a result, both the players were also handed a demerit point each.

  • As for the demerit points, if a player receives four demerit points within the span of 24 months, it shall be converted to suspension points, leading to the player being banned from international cricket for a specific time or matches.

  • As Pakistan continue to celebrate their much-needed win over England on Monday, they would be immediately switching attention to the match against former champions Sri Lanka.

    As for England, they would be playing Bangladesh next. The Tigers had shocked South Africa in their opener and would be up against New Zealand on Wednesday.
