Ranji Trophy: Yash Dhull scores century on debut
India's 2022 U-19 World Cup winning captain Yash Dhull has smashed a century on debut in the Ranji Trophy. Dhull, who opened the innings for Delhi, hammered 113 runs from 150 balls versus Tamil Nadu in an Elite Group H encounter at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. How has Day 1 panned out?
Delhi were off to a poor start (7/2), losing Dhruv Shorey and Himmat Singh for 1 and 0 respectively. Post that, Dhull and Nitish Rana added 60 runs for the third wicket. After that, Dhull and Jonty Sidhu added a century-plus stand (119). TN hit back with some quick wickets as the match is well poised. Lalit Yadav is unbeaten on 43.

India won their fifth U-19 WC trophy under Dhull
Under Dhull, India won their fifth ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup title by beating England in the final. Dhull became the fifth Indian skipper to lift the title after Mohammad Kaif (2000), Virat Kohli (2008), Unmukt Chand (2012), and Prithvi Shaw (2018). The 19-year-old is set to have his first taste of red-ball cricket in the Ranji Trophy, besides playing in the IPL.
Dhull was bought by DC in the IPL 2022 Auction
Recently, Dhull earned an Indian Premier League (IPL) ticket in the 2022 mega auction. Dhull was purchased by the Delhi Capitals for Rs. 50 lakh in the mega auction on Sunday. Prior to that, he was named in Delhi's squad for the Ranji Trophy.

India topped Group B by winning all three matches. They started the tournament with a comprehensive 45-run win over South Africa. Next, they bested Ireland by 174 runs before hammering Uganda by 326 runs in their last group game. They defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets in the quarter-finals. India battered Australia by 96 runs in the semi-final. They beat England in the final.
