His innings helped England recover from an early collapse. However, despite his efforts, the visitors were all out for 223. A stunning spell from Foulkes 

The match started with New Zealand winning the toss and opting to bowl first. England suffered an early collapse, losing four wickets for just 10 runs. Three of the first four wickets went to Foulkes as the left-arm seamer trapped Ben Duckett, Joe Root, and Jacob Bethell. Sam Curran, who was dismissed in the 12th over, was his final victim.
