On Friday, a large group of activists disrupted work at Microsoft's new data center site in Amsterdam.
Led by the group Geef Tegengas, about 100 people broke into the site while others protested outside, calling out Microsoft for using too much water and saying the data center was "gulping up our drinking water to make the rich even richer."
Spokesperson Roos Molenaar criticizes Microsoft AI
The activists also criticized Microsoft's role in developing AI, saying it could fuel international conflicts.
Spokesperson Roos Molenaar put it bluntly: "We won't accept Amsterdam being used for the creation of AI slop."
The protest has sparked fresh questions about how responsibly Microsoft is handling both environmental and ethical issues with its projects.
