Shooting in Krakow Main Square kills 6, injures 15 people
A tragic shooting shook Krakow's Main Square on Saturday when a 24-year-old man opened fire from his car, killing six people and injuring 15 more.
The victims included both men and women, and the attack sent shockwaves through this usually busy tourist spot.
Shooter shot after gunfight, officers wounded
The shooter, dressed in military-style gear, got into a gunfight with police (two officers were hurt, one seriously) before the attacker was shot and taken to surgery.
Authorities quickly secured the area to prevent more harm.
Polish President Karol Nawrocki shared his condolences for those lost, while Prime Minister Donald Tusk praised the police officers who responded to Saturday's tragedy.
The incident has sparked fresh conversations about public safety and gun laws in Poland, where interest in gun ownership has been rising even though mass shootings are rare.
