German automaker BMW has launched the seventh-generation of BMW 3 Series in India at a starting price of Rs. 41.40 lakh. The luxury sedan is offered in three variants: Sport, Luxury Line, and M Sport. While the first two models are powered by diesel engine, the top-end M Sport variant packs a petrol-based unit. Here's our roundup.
The new-generation BMW 3 Series shares its design cues with the premium 5 Series and 7 Series models, thanks to the common CLAR architecture. The luxury sedan sports a blacked-out front grille, sleek headlamps, indicator-mounted ORVMs, dual exhausts, and alloy wheels. For lighting, it houses LED headlamps with L-shaped DRLs, side indicators, and wrap-around taillights for wider appearance.
Inside, the 2019 BMW 3 Series sports a five-seater cabin with leather upholstery and a multifunctional power steering wheel. The luxury sedan sports a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and an 8.8-inch LCD infotainment system with GPS support, gesture control, and BMW's Intelligent Personal Assistant. Further, it offers electric sunroof with ambient lighting, wireless charging support, three-zone climate control, and keyless entry.
The all-new BMW 3 Series is offered in two engine options: a 2-liter diesel-powered BMW 320d and a 2-liter petrol-based BMW 330i. The petrol engine is capable of producing 255bhp of power and 400Nm of peak torque, while the diesel unit makes 188bhp power and 400Nm peak torque. For transmission duties, both engines get an eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox.
For braking performance, the 2019 BMW 3 Series comes equipped with disc brakes on both front and rear wheels. The luxury sedan also gets ABS, EBD, and traction control to avoid skidding while braking. Further, the car comes with six airbags and a host of driver-assist features including a reverse parking assistant which comes with a rear view camera and automatically parks the car.
In India, the 2019 BMW 3 Series costs Rs. 41.40 lakh for the entry-level Sport variant, Rs. 46.90 lakh for the mid-level Luxury Line model, and Rs. 47.90 lakh for the top-end M Sport variant. At this price point, it will lock horns with premium sedans like Mercedes-Benz C Class, Audi A4, Jaguar XE and the Volvo S60.
