Gordon Murray S1 LM just sold for a wild $20.6 million—setting a new record

Auto

The ultra-rare Gordon Murray S1 LM supercar was snapped up for $20.63 million at an auction during the Las Vegas F1 Grand Prix weekend, making it the most expensive new car ever sold at auction (not counting charity sales).
Only five of these cars exist, so this sale definitely turned heads.

What makes the S1 LM so special?

Inspired by the legendary 1995 Le Mans-winning McLaren F1 GTR, the S1 LM packs a 4.3L V12 engine with over 710hp, a manual six-speed gearbox, and some seriously unique touches like a quartz crystal shift knob and patented three-seat layout—all weighing in at just 957kg.
The lucky buyer also gets to join development test drives and receives an exclusive 500-page book detailing how this engineering masterpiece came to life.
