What's the story

Harley-Davidson has launched the new X440 T in India, priced at ₹2.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The bike is a more feature-rich version of the popular X440 model, which was first introduced in 2023. The new model features a sharper design, improved ergonomics, and an upgraded electronics package to appeal to young riders. It also comes with enhanced safety features like switchable traction control and rear ABS for better control during spirited riding.

Design

Design and features of the new X440 T

The biggest change in the X440 T is its design, especially at the rear. Harley-Davidson has redesigned the rear sub-frame, replacing the standard model's upright fender with a sleeker tail section. The new look includes sculpted grab handles and a longer seat for improved pillion comfort. At the front, ride-by-wire technology has decluttered the cockpit by eliminating bulky cabling for a modern layout.

Ergonomics

Enhanced ergonomics and new color options

The X440 T also gets a flatter, wider handlebar for improved rider ergonomics and a more aggressive stance. Bar-end mirrors add to the sporty look of the bike. It is available in four new color options: Vivid Black, Pearl Red, Pearl White, and Pearl Blue. Each color comes with refreshed graphics to set it apart from other models in the lineup.

Tech upgrades

Advanced electronics and safety features

The X440 T comes with two new ride modes: Road and Rain, for tailored throttle response based on conditions. A first-in-segment Panic Braking Alert flashes all four indicators rapidly during sudden high-intensity braking, to alert the following traffic of an emergency stop.

Engine

A look at the mechanicals

Despite the major upgrades in design and electronics, the X440 T retains the mechanicals of its predecessor. It is powered by a 440cc, air-oil-cooled single-cylinder engine that delivers 27.3hp and 38Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox. The suspension hardware remains unchanged with a 43mm KYB USD fork offering 130mm of travel at the front and twin gas-charged shock absorbers with seven-step preload adjustment at the rear.
