India electric 2 wheeler sales 1.91L March, 14L FY2026
Electric two-wheelers are having a moment in India: March 2026 saw sales hit nearly 1.91 lakh units, up a huge 45% from last year.
This surge pushed total sales for FY2026 to a record 14 lakh units, thanks to government incentives, the PM E-Drive extension, and the global geopolitical crisis affecting crude-oil supply chains, and festive shopping during Gudi Padwa and Ugadi.
Top 10 brands capture 95% sales
TVS Motor topped the charts with over 49,300 scooters sold (26% market share), followed by Bajaj Auto at over 46,000 Chetak e-scooters (24%).
Ather Energy also had a strong month with almost 35,700 units sold, while Hero's Vida brand hit its best-ever numbers at nearly 21,500.
The top 10 brands together made up a massive 95% of all electric two-wheeler sales, proof that big players are shaping the EV scene right now.
