What's the story

Rocketeer Cars, a UK company known for its high-performance modifications of the Mazda MX-5 Miata, has unveiled its latest creation: the Keiryo. The name "Keiryo" translates to "lightweight" in Japanese, and that's exactly what this car is all about. It weighs just 850kg but packs a punch with an impressive 375hp output. The power-to-weight ratio of 441hp per ton makes it comparable to supercars like Lamborghini Huracan V10, Ferrari F40, and McLaren 620R.

Engine details

Keiryo's engine: A modified Jaguar V6

The Keiryo is powered by a modified Jaguar 3.0-liter V6 engine, which Rocketeer Cars has rebuilt and strengthened for added power. The company hasn't revealed how it plans to achieve the car's target weight but has confirmed that the first unit is already in production with a delivery date set for early next year. Rocketeer intends to build only 10 units of this unique model, along with a less extreme "Touring" version that will include some additional comforts.

Company background

Rocketeer's history and future plans

Rocketeer Cars is a small operation that has built only a few hundred cars in its nearly decade-long existence. The company delivered over a dozen RestMod builds last year, its highest ever. It has customers in places like Antigua, Brazil, and the US and has shipped self-build kits globally. Now, it is working on an Mk3 NC version of its Rocketeer RestoMod with a revised V6 engine delivering 300hp and 359Nm of torque.
