Mercedes-Benz teases 2026 S-Class facelift with lidar tech

Mercedes-Benz just dropped a first look at the 2026 S-Class facelift, with a premiere scheduled for next month.
The big headline? A roof-mounted LiDAR system (made with Momenta) for Level 4 self-driving, but only for an Abu Dhabi robotaxi—not regular models.
This update keeps the S-Class in the race against rivals like BMW's new 7 Series.

Design, tech, and what's next

Standard models get fresh star-themed headlights. Inside, it's all about bigger screens and more digital features—even if not everyone loved them before.
Mercedes also plans to blend its S-Class and EQS lines by 2029/2030 to mix electric tech into its flagship sedans.
