India's electric vehicle scene saw strong growth in FY26, with Tata Motors selling the most EVs, 77,658 units.
Still, even as Tata led the pack (thanks to popular models like the Nexon EV), its market share slipped from 53.4% to 39.2% as competition heated up.
Mahindra's market share rises to 21.2%
Mahindra made serious waves by growing its market share from 7.8% to 21.2%, selling 42,006 EVs, mainly driven by fresh launches like the BE 6 and XEV series.
MG Motor India also stepped up with 52,408 EVs sold, while Hyundai moved past 12,000 units.
In FY2026, India's EV sales showed healthy upticks (e.g., MG +74% YoY; Mahindra ~5x vs FY2025): proof that electric rides are catching on fast.
