Tesla's updated Model Y has bagged a full five-star safety rating in the latest Euro NCAP crash tests. The result strengthens the SUV's reputation as one of the safest electric cars on sale. Despite tougher evaluation standards in the 2025 test cycle, the Model Y not only met them but also scored impressively high across all categories.

The Euro NCAP awarded the Model Y a 91% rating for adult occupant safety, praising its excellent protection in frontal and side-impact tests. The cabin remained stable during the frontal offset crash, with all critical areas for the front passenger showing "good" protection. Child occupant safety was even more impressive at 93%, with maximum points scored in both 6-year-old and 10-year-old dummy tests.

Performance in vulnerable road user protection
The updated electric SUV scored 86% for vulnerable road-user protection. The official charts show that head impact protection was mostly rated as good or adequate, with some areas near the windscreen pillars being weaker. The Model Y's autonomous emergency braking system also performed well across pedestrian and cyclist scenarios, including cyclist "dooring" prevention where it warns occupants to avoid opening doors into an oncoming cyclist.
