Toyota's Urban Cruiser Hyryder outsells Innova models, hits record sales

In a surprising turn of events, Toyota's Urban Cruiser Hyryder has outsold the Innova Hycross and Crysta for the first time. The midsize SUV recorded its best-ever monthly sales with 11,555 units sold in October 2025. This figure accounts for a whopping 34% of Toyota India's total dispatches of 33,809 utility vehicles during this period. The milestone marks a major shift in Toyota's sales dynamics in India.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has posted its highest-ever passenger vehicle sales in October 2025, with a total of 40,247 units sold. This is a 43% year-on-year (YoY) increase. However, a closer look at the model-wise wholesales reveals that the Urban Cruiser Hyryder has outsold the Innova for the first time ever. TKM dispatched 11,555 units of the Hyryder last month, outpacing combined sales of both variants of Innova, Hycross and Crysta, by 466 units.

Sales reach new heights
The Urban Cruiser Hyryder has also set a new record for itself, surpassing the previous best of 9,100 units sold in August 2025. The latest figures show a massive YoY jump of 112% from October 2022's sales of 5,449 units. This clearly shows the growing demand for this midsize SUV in India's domestic market. Together with the Innova models, they contributed to a whopping 67% of TKM's record utility vehicle sales last month.

56,000 units in 7 months
The Urban Cruiser Hyryder has sold over 56,000 units in the first seven months of FY2024-25. This translates to a remarkable YoY growth of 57%. Despite fierce competition in the midsize SUV segment, the demand for this model remains strong, especially in the strong-hybrid passenger vehicle market where Toyota India holds an impressive 80% share.
Sales projection
Hyryder's sales to cross 200,000 units soon
The Urban Cruiser Hyryder is just a little over 11,000 units away from the 200,000 sales milestone. Given its current sales momentum, it should hit this target either in November or by mid-December. The strong-hybrid petrol powertrain of the Hyryder is a major draw for customers. It offers an impressive fuel efficiency of up to 27.97km/l and comes with features like brake-energy recuperation and automatic engine shut-off during idling times.
