    It seems Kannada Development Authority (KDA) has launched a full-fledged war against Hindi imposition. KDA has now moved on to regional heads of nationalized, rural and scheduled banks asking them to make it compulsory for non-Kannada-speaking staffers to learn Kannada within six months, otherwise they'll end up losing their jobs.     Automated parking pioneer questions smart parking facility

    While BBMP is all set to launch automated parking-facility at central business district, Sohail Yusuf, known for introducing first smart-parking facility on Brigade road, is questioning the project's feasibility. "In proof of concept displayed by one of the companies, I observed there was no transparency in fare collection, no proof of payment and some human involvement, which may only lead to corruption," said Yusuf.

    Bengaluru's heli taxi fares could hike due to diversion

    The helicopter shuttle service that will be launched between Bengaluru airport and Electronic City in next three months seems to have hit a minor hiccup. The chopper may take a longer route in order to avoid testing activity at HAL airport, which would raise the fares of the heli taxi. It was earlier going to provide its services at luxury taxi fares.

    IBM data: 22 cases of illegal mining in Karnataka everyday

    Quarterly reports submitted to the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) by Karnataka government revealed that there have been 31,850 cases of illegal mining from 1st April'13 - 31st March'17. The cases recorded were for minerals such as iron ore, gold, bauxite, and minor minerals like sand. Seven trucks were seized every day -10,895 in four years - and penalties stand at Rs. 93.16 crore.

    Karnataka: Mother-in-law deposes in favour of daughter-in law

    In an interesting case, a city family court ordered son of the late former minister SR Kashappanavar, Devanand Kashappanavar to pay an alimony of Rs. 4 crore to his wife after Devanand's mother gave her statement in favour of her daughter-in-law. The court also noticed that couple hadn't been living together since 2012. The mother-in-law also said that Devanand had married another woman.
