What's the story
25 students from Bengaluru's premier colleges will gather to build their idea of a pod, a vehicle meeting the high-speed norms of Hyperloop, a futuristic transport system. IISc scientist invents mind-controlled drones
S.N Omkar, a yoga teacher and Chief Research Scientist at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, IISc along with his team built a mind-controlled quadcopter, India's first mind-controlled drone. The drone needs no joystick, but is operated with a head-mounted device and a laptop. It operates on the basis of the operator's thought, who wears an electroencephalogram (EEG) headset.

Bengaluru Police's app for reporting missing documents
Bengaluru City Police's e-Lost Report app is an initiative which will help residents report the loss of their items including important documents. Once a complaint is registered on the app, the sender receives a digitally signed copy over e-mail. This feature is handy as re-applying for documents would need proof in the form of a police report of the item being lost.

Bengaluru's double-decker buses could make a comeback
Bengaluru's double-decker buses are likely to make a comeback, with the Centre publishing specifications for the same. The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is expected to buy 4-5 vehicles by the end of 2017. Double-decker buses in Bengaluru were taken off roads in 1997. The Corporation is yet to decide if these buses will be used for general services or tourism purposes.

State government's proposal to develop regional airports hits roadblock
The Karnataka government's proposal to develop regional airports in Tier 2 cities has hit a roadblock as the Centre has raised objections over investments for the same. The proposal was to develop the state's greenfield airports by investing anywhere between Rs. 50-100 crore. The Centre, however, feels that high security cover cannot be offered to airports with investments of less than Rs. 100 crore.

Father, brothers of bride attend wedding in handcuffs
The Karnataka High Court directed police to escort 49-year-old Manohar Malade and his two sons Amogond and Siddeshwar from Vijayapura's central jail to attend the wedding of Malade's daughter in handcuffs. The 3 are accused in a murder case and are undergoing trial. They had earlier applied to the Sessions Court for bail and approached the HC after their plea was rejected.
