This week, from December 8 to December 14, certain regions in India will observe four bank holidays. These holidays are region-specific and are determined by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) based on local observances. The upcoming bank holidays include a closure in Kerala for the local government institutions elections on December 9, and Meghalaya's observance of freedom fighter Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma's death anniversary on December 12.

Second Saturday is a bank holiday
All banks across India will remain closed on December 13, which is the second Saturday of the month. According to RBI guidelines, banks are generally closed on the second and fourth Saturdays as well as all Sundays. This means that there will be four bank holidays during this period: one each for Kerala and Meghalaya, plus two weekend closures.

Despite the holidays, essential banking services will remain available. ATMs will continue to function 24/7, providing cash withdrawal and account statement services. For online transactions, NEFT, IMPS, and RTGS services can be used even on bank holidays. UPI services are also operational during these times for sending and receiving money.
