Citi predicts $8.9 trillion global AI investment by 2030
Citigroup just bumped up its global AI investment forecast for 2026 to 2030 to a massive $8.9 trillion, with expected AI revenues also rising to $3.3 trillion.
This jump is thanks to companies everywhere moving faster on smart automation and agent-based tech.
Big tech's capital expenditures
Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Meta are expected to collectively spend more than $630 billion in capital expenditures this year, much of which is expected to go toward data centers and AI infrastructure.
AI companies' revenue growth
AI leaders like Anthropic and OpenAI are seeing their numbers soar:
Anthropic could hit $26 billion in annualized revenue by 2026, while OpenAI reported it has surpassed a $25 billion revenue run rate, compared with about $21.4 billion generated at the end of last year.
Natural resources and industrials
Even after some recent dips in big tech stocks, Citi thinks there's real opportunity in companies powering the AI supply chain (think natural resources and industrials needed for all that new infrastructure).
If you're curious about where the next wave of tech-driven growth might come from, keep an eye on these sectors.
