Dhanteras 2025: Shoppers spend ₹1 lakh crore on metals, more
Dhanteras 2025 saw Indian shoppers break records, spending ₹1 lakh crore—mostly on gold and silver, even as prices hit all-time highs.
Delhi alone contributed over ₹10,000 crore to these metal sales.
With gold at ₹1,30,000 per 10gm and silver at ₹1,80,000 per kg, it was a big splurge despite the steep costs.
Shift in shopper behavior
As gold got pricier, many people switched to buying silver instead—demand for silver coins and puja items jumped by up to 40%.
Gold sales volume dropped by 15%, but shoppers spent more per purchase.
The Dhanteras shopping buzz wasn't just about metals: utensils brought in ₹15,000 crore in sales, electronics added another ₹10K crore, and decorative items chipped in with ₹3K crore.
The festival clearly gave a boost to several sectors this year.
