Dr. Reddy's, Zydus recall US drugs over quality control issues

Business

Two major Indian pharma companies, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories and Zydus Lifesciences, have recalled some of their medicines in the US after the FDA flagged problems with quality control.
It's a reminder that even big names need to stay sharp on safety.

Details of the recalls

Dr. Reddy's pulled back 571 vials of its muscle relaxant injection after stability tests showed out-of-specification results.
Meanwhile, Zydus recalled over 1,500 bottles of its hepatitis B drug Entecavir because it didn't meet impurity standards.
Both recalls happened in late September 2025 and were initiated following FDA findings of quality control issues.

India has more FDA-approved pharma plants than any country

India actually has more FDA-approved pharma plants than any country outside the US—a point of pride for the industry.
But these recalls show that strict checks are always needed to make sure meds are safe and effective for everyone, everywhere.
