Elon Musk calls his DOGE experience 'a little bit successful'

Business

Elon Musk recently opened up about his time leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under President Trump, calling it "a little bit successful."
He managed to cut some wasteful federal spending, but faced plenty of criticism and even saw Tesla targeted with vandalism.
Looking back, Musk reflected on a podcast that he might have preferred to focus on his companies instead of working on DOGE.

Why it mattered for Musk and Tesla

Musk took on the DOGE role after supporting Trump's campaign, but it raised eyebrows—especially among investors worried he was distracted from Tesla as sales dropped.
He also clashed publicly with Trump over a tax bill, which didn't help his political ties.
When asked if he'd ever do it again, Musk said no, and reflected that maybe he should have just focused on his own companies instead.
Still, he feels the work made at least a small difference.
