Foxconn to double AirPods output in India
Foxconn is set to double its AirPods output at the Hyderabad plant, aiming for 2 lakh units per month within the next 6-8 months.
This upgrade—powered by a ₹4,800 crore investment—means new production lines and relocated machinery from Vietnam, all part of Apple's push to make more devices in India.
Current production and future staffing plans
The facility, running since April 2025, is currently making the latest AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 3.
With over ₹3,000 crore already spent on this project, Foxconn plans to ramp up staff from 2,000 to about 5,000 as production grows.
Apple's manufacturing push in India
This move boosts Apple's manufacturing game in India and helps diversify supply chains beyond China.
Plus, with iPhone exports from India jumping by 75% this year alone (to $10 billion), it's a big step for local jobs and tech exports.
