Goyal to visit Brussels to push forward India-EU FTA talks
India's Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal is traveling to Brussels this month to push forward a free trade agreement (FTA) with the European Union.
This visit follows the latest round of talks held from October 6 to 10 and comes just after Goyal attends the Berlin Global Dialogue from October 23-25.
The FTA aims to lower tariffs, protect investments, and make it easier to trade goods and services between India and the EU.
EU-India trade relations
The EU is India's biggest trading partner, with trade reaching $136.5 billion in 2024-25, and is a major source of foreign investment.
Both sides are hoping to wrap up the FTA by December 2025, which could potentially open up more jobs, boost exports, and strengthen supply chains for both regions.
If successful, this deal could make it easier for businesses in India to access European markets and attract more global opportunities.
