India's $3.6B Boeing patrol jets deal on hold

Business

India has put a $3.6 billion deal for Boeing patrol jets on hold after new US tariffs made the purchase way pricier than planned.
The original agreement from 2021 was for six P-8I aircraft, but a 25% tariff introduced in August 2025 has pushed up costs, leading India's Defence Ministry to reconsider.

Meanwhile, Air India is upgrading its Dreamliners

While the jet deal is paused, Air India is moving ahead with upgrades—retrofitting its older Boeing Dreamliners in the US.
The airline aims to update two planes each month as part of its push to modernize its fleet and boost efficiency.
