IndiGo reports ₹2,582 crore loss: What's the reason
Business
IndiGo just reported a ₹2,582 crore loss for July-September 2025—a sharp swing from its ₹2,176 crore profit last quarter and much worse than last year's loss.
The airline says this setback is mostly because of unfavorable currency changes, even though passenger revenues increased.
Revenue up despite loss
Even with the loss, IndiGo's revenue grew 9% year-on-year to ₹18,555 crore. Passenger ticket sales jumped 11%, and extra income from things like baggage fees rose 14%.
Still, profits before key expenses (EBITDAR) dropped by over half compared to last year.
If you ignore the currency impact, IndiGo actually made a small net profit—showing how tough exchange rates have been on their bottom line.
