A Noida engineering consultant lost nearly ₹12 crore after falling for a cyber scam that started with a random WhatsApp message promising big stock market returns.
He was shown screenshots of daily profits in group chats, which convinced him to keep investing more.

Scam exposed after demand for ₹17cr more; police investigating

The fraud came to light when scammers pressured him to put in another ₹17 crore for an IPO.
He realized something was off and reported it to the cybercrime portal.
Police are now tracing and freezing the bank accounts involved as part of their investigation.
