NVIDIA's Huang sees data centers sparking job boom
NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang thinks India's push for AI data centers might create job opportunities on the scale of the early internet days.
At an event in Houston, he pointed out that these centers could mean thousands of new jobs across different fields.
This optimism follows India's 2026 Budget move—offering a tax holiday till 2047 (as announced in Budget 2026) to foreign companies providing cloud services to global customers using data centers located in India—to attract $200 billion in investments.
Each center could directly hire 5,000-10,000 people
Huang estimates each center could directly hire 5,000-10,000 people—think electricians, plumbers, and construction crews.
There's also a ripple effect: more roles in supply chains, design, operations, and startups.
He highlighted that it's not just about building; it's about all the work that comes before and after.
Tech giants are investing in India
Tech giants aren't missing out—Google pledged $15 billion last October for an AI center in Andhra Pradesh, while Microsoft and Amazon have also invested billions.
According to IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, these data centers are now key to keeping India competitive on the global stage.
