UPI posts record ₹29.53L/cr in March on 22.64bn transactions

UPI just broke its own record in March 2026, clocking ₹29.53 lakh crore across 22.64 billion transactions, according to NPCI.
That's a big leap, up 19% in value and 24% in volume from last year, thanks to festivities and financial year closure.
UPI operates in 7 countries
On average, UPI handled about 730 million transactions a day this March, moving around ₹95,000 crore daily.
It now powers 85% of all digital payments in India and nearly half of real-time digital payments worldwide.
UPI's even gone global, operating in seven countries with France as its first stop in Europe.
