'Valimai': Story, OTT release, possible sequel, and more details
Valimai is gearing up for a majestic release on February 24. Led by Ajith Kumar aka AK, the upcoming cop drama has been directed by H Vinoth and bankrolled by ace Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor. Touted as AK's first pan-Indian film, there is a lot of excitement around the project. So, before it hits the theaters, we list out five interesting points about Valimai.
The advance booking window for the high-octane action film is now open and according to BookMyShow, the film has managed to garner over two million likes on the platform. This is by far the highest number of likes for any movie on the online ticket booking portal. As per some reports, the first show will be conducted for fans at 4 am!
Valimai marks the second collaboration of AK, Vinoth, and Kapoor. Calling him a modest actor, Kapoor said, "He (AK) has mastered the discipline, has a sheer passion for his profession, and has immense dedication." Meanwhile, Huma Qureshi, who plays the leading lady in the film, said, "He is a true gentleman. He is so kind and respectful toward every single person on the sets."
Talking of a possible sequel, Kapoor told to Pinkvilla, "Although, we never thought about it earlier, after reading on social media about the demand of spinning Valimai into a franchise the thought has reached my mind." "If audience and fans of AK want the same, and if everything comes together, sequel would be made," he added. We are definitely keeping our fingers crossed.
Valimai will be about a cop, Arjun Kumar (AK), who aims to bust a gang of criminal bikers. Kartikeya Gummakonda (main antagonist) said that he practiced riding race bikes for days to get accustomed to his role. Speaking of AK, he said, "It was challenging to match the bike racing skills of Ajith sir. He supported me a lot while shooting bike chasing scenes."
Regarding the film's digital release, since Zee Studios is also one of the producers, naturally its OTT platform ZEE5 has got the streaming rights, while Zee Tamil has bagged the film's satellite rights. However, there is no official word on when the actioner will be digitally streamed. To recall, the satellite rights to AK's previous venture Nerkonda Paarvai were also bought by Zee Tamil.
