After supercop, Ajay Devgn to play IAF Squadron Leader next

Ajay Devgn, who has won hearts with his performance as a supercop in Rohit Shetty's Singham series, is all set to don the uniform again. However, this time he will be playing an Indian Air Force officer in a war film titled Bhuj: The Pride Of India. According to media reports, the movie will be based on Indo-Pak war of 1971. Here's more.

Ajay to portray IAF Squadron Leader (retired) Vijay Karnik

Reportedly, Ajay will be essaying the role of IAF Squadron Leader (retired) Vijay Karnik in the movie. For the uninitiated, Karnik was the in-charge of the Bhuj airbase during the 1971 war. He, along with his team survived the heavy bombing at the airbase during the war, and reconstructed the destroyed Indian Air Force airstrip there with the help of local women.

Ajay is proud to be a part of this project

This courageous tale needs to be told: Bhushan Kumar

Producer Bhushan Kumar is quite excited about the project and stated that this courageous tale needs to be told. He further mentioned that it's important for the current generation to know about such brave hearts. "Karnik, played a significant role in India's victory in the 1971 war. He was heroic enough to take this bold step of involving civilians in a war," he added.

'Who better than Ajay for the role of Vijay Karnik'

Talking about taking Ajay on board for Bhuj: The Pride Of India, Bhushan said that he is a perfect choice for the role. "Who better than Ajay Devgn for the role of Vijay Karnik? We are working with him currently in De De Pyaar De and Taanaji, and we are glad that he is on board for this film, too," he was quoted saying.

I could only see Ajay playing my role: Karnik

Not only Bhushan, but Karnik is also elated to have Ajay aboard. "I could only see Ajay Devgn essaying my character," Karnik said. Recalling those days, he added, "We were fighting a war. If there had been any casualties of any of these women, it'd have been a great loss. I had briefed them where they could take shelter if attacked. They followed it."

Ajay, basking in 'Total Dhamaal' success, has busy days ahead

Currently, Ajay is basking in the success of his last release Total Dhamaal, which has crossed Rs. 150 crore at the box office. Besides, he is also working on movies like Taanaji, De De Pyaar De and SS Rajamouli's next directorial RRR.
