Koduri Srisaila Sri Rajamouli is an Indian film director and screenwriter born on October 10, 1973. He primarily works in the Telugu film industry. Rajamouli started his career by directing Telugu soap operas, under popular director K Raghavendra Rao's guidance, on ETV. He made his directorial debut in Telugu films with the 2001 Jr. NTR starrer 'Student No. 1'. He got his breakthrough with the 2006 Telugu action film 'Vikramarkudu', which was later remade in Kannada as 'Veera Madakari' (2009), in Tamil as 'Siruthai' (2011), and in Hindi as 'Rowdy Rathore' (2012). He is best known for directing fantasy action films, such as 'Magadheera' (2009), 'Eega' (2012), 'Baahubali: The Beginning' (2015), and 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017). Notably, the 'Baahubali' franchise emerged as the highest-grossing film series in India of all time, earning Rs. 1,810 crore approximately. His 'Baahubali: The Conclusion' won the American Saturn Award for Best International Film as well as the Australian Telstra People's Choice Award. In 2016, he was conferred Padma Shri by the Government of India. He has won numerous National Film Awards, Filmfare Awards, Nandi Awards, and SIIMAs, among others.
