Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is an American superhero film featuring fictional superheroes Batman and Superman together for the first time in a movie. The film directed by Zack Snyder stars Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman. The movie is about the showdown between both the superheroes because of the villain, Lex Luthor's manipulation that results in a fight.

    The ultimate superheroes

Batman and Superman are two fictional superheroes who appear in an American comic book series by DC comics. The two superheroes are by far the most popular fictional characters created by DC comics.

The creator of Batman and Superman

DC Comics Incorporated, an American comic publisher and a unit of DC Entertainment, is one of the biggest and most successful comic publishers in the USA. DC Entertainment comes under Warner Bros. Entertainment owned by Time Warner. It has created comics of several superheroes and villains including the Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Flash, Joker, Lex Luthor, Darkseid, Sinestro, Brainiac, Catwoman, and many more.

    Superheroes’ super debuts

DC Comics got its name from one its most popular comic series called Detective Comics (1937-present) in which Batman's character had made its debut. Superman made his debut in Action Comics (1938-present).

    The superhero with no superpowers

Batman, the fictional superhero, was created by writer Bill Finger and artist Bob Kane and appeared first in the Detective Comics no. 27 in May 1939. Batman is a superhero who doesn't possess any special powers, unlike other superheroes. DC Entertainment began co-production with the first-installment of The Dark Knight Trilogy-Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012).

    The man of steel

Superman was created by artist Joe Shuster and writer Jerry Siegel, and appeared first in June 1938, in the Action Comics no.1. Superman possesses several superhuman abilities, and his appearance is iconic with a blue costume, a red cape, and a shield with 'S' on his chest. DC Entertainment co-produced two Superman movies, Superman Returns (2006) and Man Of Steel (2013).

    Batman movies’ collections, records

Batman Begins (2005), with a budget of $150 million, had collected a Worldwide Lifetime Gross of $374.2 million. The Dark Knight (2008), with a budget of $185 million, broke the record for highest first-day collections by a 2D movie and had earned over $1 billion worldwide. The Dark Knight Rises (2012), with a budget of $250 million and record-breaking opening, collected $1.08 billion globally.

    Superman movies’ collections, box-office performances

Superman Returns, released on 28 June 2006 with a high-budget of $270 million, had collected a Worldwide Lifetime Gross of only $391 million and slightly slumped at the box-office. In the next edition too, Superman couldn't break big records at the box-office as Man Of Steel, released on 14 June 2013 with a budget of $225 million, earned a total of $668 million worldwide.

Batman wins the battle of numbers

The 'Worldwide Lifetime Gross' of all three 'Dark Knight Trilogy' movies add up to a total of $2.5 billion, whereas the worldwide earnings of the two Superman movies only add up to $1.06 billion.
