Box office: 'Black Phone 2' scares away competition
Entertainment
Horror sequel "Black Phone 2" just grabbed the top spot at the North American box office this past weekend, pulling in $26.5 million—outperforming the first film's debut.
It's a big boost for Blumhouse Productions after some recent flops, and shows that scary movies still draw crowds.
Film's performance in numbers
The film was a hit with younger audiences—about 63% of ticket buyers were between 18 and 34, with strong support from Hispanic viewers (39%).
Globally, "Black Phone 2" has earned $42 million so far, holding its own against other new releases even as overall October movie attendance dipped compared to last year.
