'120 Bahadur' to be released with 0 cuts in theaters
What's the story
The much-awaited war drama, 120 Bahadur, starring Farhan Akhtar and directed by Razneesh Ghai, is set for a limited release on Friday, November 21. In a strategic move, the filmmakers have decided to release the film in around 900-1,000 screens across India. The film's paid previews were held nationwide on Tuesday (November 18).
Certification
'120 Bahadur' received CBFC clearance
Despite concerns over possible cuts in the film, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared 120 Bahadur without any cuts. The Examining Committee of CBFC did not ask for any visual cuts as the action scenes are not too gory or disturbing. The movie was awarded a U/A 13+ certificate in early November.
Targeted release
'120 Bahadur' targets niche audience for optimal reach
A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, "The makers, Excel Entertainment, and the distributors, AA Films, have decided to provide a limited release to the film." "The idea is to release the film in cinemas which are highly frequented by its target audience." "The strategy will work well with the film, and if there's demand, the shows can be increased over the weekend or on weekdays."
Audience targeting
'120 Bahadur' to avoid clash with 'Mastiii 4'
The trade source further added that the release strategy of 120 Bahadur will not clash with Mastiii 4, which also releases on Friday. "Mastiii 4 is meant for the masses. Hence, there will be no clash over show-sharing for these two films as they are targeting different sets of audiences." "The makers of the sex comedy plan to go wide in mass centers and in the hinterland."
Film details
'120 Bahadur' runtime
Meanwhile, the film's trailer, screened in cinemas, replaced the dialogue "Ahir hai hum" with "Fauji hai hum." Many netizens assumed this change would also be imposed in the final film, leading to criticism of the CBFC. However, reportedly, the final version of 120 Bahadur does not include the dialogue modification seen in the trailer. The film has a runtime of 137 minutes (2 hours and 17 minutes).
