Darshan's family to file complaint against prison officials: Here's why
Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa's family is reportedly planning to file a complaint with the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) against the Ballari jail authorities. The 47-year-old actor, who is currently in judicial custody for his alleged involvement in the high-profile murder of his fan Renukaswamy in June, has allegedly been denied proper facilities in prison. However, jail officials have refuted these claims.
Family alleges denial of facilities to jailed actor
According to a report in The New Indian Express, Darshan's family is unhappy with the alleged denial of facilities to the actor in jail. They believe he is not being treated like an undertrial prisoner and are planning to file a complaint with the SHRC. The actor's mother and other family members visited him at the jail on Sunday, where he reportedly shared his prison experiences with them.
Jail authorities denied all allegations
Jail authorities have denied the allegations made by Darshan's family. They claim that the actor has been treated as per prison rules and has been provided with a television and a surgical chair in his cell. A senior jail official told the portal, "He has demanded a few more things. We have sent his request to our senior officials, who will take a call."
Darshan was arrested in June for Renukaswamy's murder
Darshan was arrested on June 11, along with his rumored girlfriend and fellow actor Pavithra Gowda, for his alleged involvement in the brutal murder of his fan Renukaswamy. He is currently lodged in Ballari Central Prison. The actor was earlier shifted from Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Central Prison after a picture of him receiving alleged VIP treatment went viral on social media.
