Decoding Housefull 5's budget and revenue
Housefull 5, the latest in the comedy franchise starring Akshay Kumar and directed by Tarun Mansukhani, is nearing the end of its theatrical run.
The film pulled in an expected ₹165 crore in India and about $8 million internationally.
While it started strong, it couldn't keep up once movies like Sitaare Zameen Par hit screens, and overall didn't quite live up to box office hopes.
Film breaks even but doesn't quite meet expectations
With a hefty budget of ₹240 crore (including marketing), Housefull 5 managed to break even thanks to digital rights (₹75 crore), satellite rights (₹40 crore), music rights (₹20 crore), plus box office shares from India and abroad.
Akshay Kumar had a profit-share deal but saw limited extra earnings due to the film's performance.
Still, he's moving forward with upcoming projects like Jolly LLB 3 as he works to reconnect with fans.
