"We extend our sincere appreciation to the Mumbai Police for their steadfast support and cooperation during this challenging period."
Legal implications
Here are the legalities of using 'Police' stickers and lights
According to the report, Shetty customized at least two of his private cars, both SUVs. A senior traffic officer told Mid-Day that permission to use police stickers and lights is granted only to officers. After verifying, it was confirmed that the SUVs have been registered in Shetty's name. A senior RTO official said, "Under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, as amended in 2019, does not allow a 'Police' sticker, logo or board on a private vehicle under Section 177."
Security concerns
Gunmen attacked Shetty's residence
The report added that Shetty made these modifications after requesting extra security from the Mumbai Police in January, following threats from Lawrence Bishnoi's gang. The situation escalated when unknown gunmen attacked his Juhu apartment, and Bishnoi's gang later claimed responsibility. Meanwhile, Shetty continues filming Golmaal 5 under tight security as police investigate the attack.
