Gamers launch #PSBlackout over Sony reportedly ending physical PlayStation games
Entertainment
Sony reportedly plans to stop making physical PlayStation games by 2028, and a lot of gamers aren't happy about it.
The group Does It Play has kicked off the #PSBlackout protest, asking players to stay offline and skip PlayStation purchases from August 23-30, 2026, right when Gamescom is happening, so Sony gets the message loud and clear.
Hacker leak fuels #PSBlackout protest
The protest picked up steam after a hacker leaked GTA 6 footage and the entire map of Leonidas just before GTA VI's extended trailer is set to come out on Netflix.
The leaker opposed the decision to offer digital pre-orders and demanded an apology, warning they'll keep leaking content if things don't change.
Despite all this, Sony says going digital matches what players want, but many fans clearly disagree.
