'Jigarthanda 3' is happening, confirms director Karthik Subbaraj
What's the story
Acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj has confirmed that he will be making Jigarthanda 3. In an exclusive interview with News18, he said, "Yes, I'll make the third part of Jigarthanda." "I may not make it very soon, but it will be made some time down the line. I've an idea [of the story] in my head." Jigarthanda is a successful action franchise that started with his 2014 film of the same name. It was followed by Jigarthanda DoubleX in 2023.

Subbaraj's next will feature newcomers
Subbaraj also revealed that his next directorial venture will feature a cast of newcomers. Meanwhile, his production venture Neelira was released on Friday. The Tamil indie film has received praise from the film fraternity, including actor Suriya, who recently collaborated with Subbaraj on Retro. Neelira is directed by Someetharan and co-produced by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam and Rana Daggubati.

Subbaraj expressed hope that Neelira's success would open doors for many filmmakers, storytellers, and artists. He said, "If this film clicks or wins, it will open doors for many filmmakers, storytellers, and artists from the Eelam community and for independent filmmakers." The trailer launch event of Neelira was attended by several industry stalwarts, including Vetrimaaran, AR Murugadoss, and Lokesh Kanagaraj.
