Jonze warns about 'manipulative' chatbots at Vibecon in New York
Entertainment
Spike Jonze, the writer-director behind Her, spoke at Vibecon in New York City and shared his worries about AI chatbots.
He called them "manipulative" and urged everyone, especially younger people, to remember that these bots are just tools with limits.
For Jonze, true creativity is all about working together as humans, not letting AI take over.
Jonze used AI but urges collaboration
Even though he's used AI for projects like Gucci's The Tiger, Jonze stays careful about relying on it too much.
He pointed out that today's chatbots can sound convincing but are really just pattern-following machines.
"I think that it's an incredible tool but it's also not—and shouldn't replace human collaboration; that's where some electricity happens that can't be defined."
