Salman Khan in jail: Judge hearing actor's bail plea transferred
In a move that has put a question mark over relief for Salman Khan, the Sessions judge hearing his bail application was transferred on late Friday night. Judge Ravindra Kumar Joshi was among 87 sessions court judges transferred as a part of the annual reshuffle. Salman is locked in Jodhpur central jail after he was found guilty in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.
As is the rule, all the 87 judges including Mr. Joshi will be given seven days for the transition, therefore, he is expected to hear Salman's bail application today itself. Mr. Joshi had put off the hearing by a day as he wanted to analyze the entire case record. The superstar on Thursday had appealed for a bail immediately after his conviction.
In a major setback for the 'Race 3' actor, two days back he was convicted and sentenced to five years in jail for poaching two blackbucks in 1998. His 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam Kothari were also accused of a role in the killing of the endangered species. However, they were acquitted by the court.
