What's the story

Bollywood actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has criticized the creators of the web series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack for allegedly distorting facts. Further, Ranaut wrote on X, "Law of the land is that one can show unimaginable amount of violence and nudity on OTT platforms without any consequence or censorship, one can even distort real-life events to suit their politically motivated sinister motives." Controversy

'IC 814' under fire for changing hijackers' names

IC 814 has come under fire for portraying the hijackers with Hindu names - 'Bhola' and 'Shankar.' In reality, the five hijackers involved in the 1999 incident were identified as Ibrahim Athar, Shahid Akhtar Sayed, Sunny Ahmed Qazi, Zahoor Mistry, and Shakir. These individuals were members of a Pakistan-based terrorist organization. This discrepancy has led to criticism and accusations of misleading the audience.
