He had won 'The Comedy Circus' a stunning six times
  • Having started his career by winning The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2007, and the Comedy Circus for six times, Sharma received immense fame from Comedy Nights with Kapil (CNWK), from 2013 to 2016.

The 38-year-old also tried his hands in acting with films like Kis Kis ko Pyaar Karoon and Firangi.

Currently, he hosts the uber-popular The Kapil Sharma Show on TV.

His downfall started when 'Comedy Nights' was pulled off
  • Sharma's reputation took a hit when CNWK, which was touching heights of success and garnering excellent ratings, was suddenly pulled off.

After an array of speculations, Raj Nayak, Head of Colors TV told, "He (Sharma) started renegotiating, asking for more money, and violated the contract by hosting shows on competitive channels, which we felt was not ethical, and forced us to call it off."

The mid-air fight in March 2017 was a huge blow
  • After CNWK was pulled off, Sharma and his team members including Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar, launched The Kapil Sharma Show on Sony TV.

It became a big hit in a very short time.

However, soon, Sharma's life hit a real low point when he got involved in a drunken, mid-air fight with his colleagues in 2017, resulting in a rift between him and Grover.

  • Depression

  • In 2017, Sharma started working on his movie, Firangi, and eventually, The Kapil Sharma Show went off-air.

In the meantime, he also told that he was suffering from depression and undergoing Ayurvedic treatment in Bengaluru, as he needs "to repair my body to make a great and healthy comeback."

Firangi released but tanked at the box office, causing more damage to Sharma's already-hit image.

  • In April last year, Sharma got embroiled in another controversy when he posted a series of insulting tweets against SpotboyE's editor Vickey Lalwani for writing negative stories about him.

    He didn't stop there.

He also apparently called up Lalwani, abused and threatened him, shocking his fans and family. The audio call was later made public.

Eventually, Sharma and Lalwani filed cases against each other.

  • New start

After battling bad days, he made his comeback, and remarkably
  • After struggling for a long time, Sharma pulled up his socks, shed his excessive fat, and made a thumping entry on television with a new season of The Kapil Sharma Show last October.

His critically acclaimed Punjabi venture, Son of Manjeet Singh, also brought him accolades.

Sharma also married his girlfriend of seven years, Ginni Chatrath. The king of comedy is back, and how.
