'Manmarziyaan' collection: Anurag Kashyap's romantic-drama picks up on second day
Anurag Kashyap's recent directorial 'Manmarziyaan' has picked up the pace on the second day, and has made a collection of Rs. 8.63 cr so far. As per Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh, 'Manmarziyaan' saw a healthy 45.17% growth on the second day. The movie which happens to be Kashyap's first romantic-drama, stars Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles.
#Manmarziyaan witnesses a healthy 45.17% growth on Day 2, although after a low Day 1, the jump in biz should’ve been higher... North circuits are performing better... Fri 3.52 cr, Sat 5.11 cr. Total: ₹ 8.63 cr. India biz.— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) September 16, 2018
According to Adarsh, 'Manmarziyaan' is expected to witness another hike in its collection on Sunday. In fact, the occupancy rate in theaters was much higher on Saturday than its first day. However, understandably the real test will be on weekdays given its competition with Rajkummar-Shraddha's horror-comedy 'Stree', which is still going strong at theaters after three weeks.
With a collection of Rs. 8.63 cr, 'Manmarziyaan' has become director Kashyap's best opener in years. His last directorial 'Mukkabaaz' made a lifetime collection of Rs. 10 crore, while his movies like 'Ugly', 'Raman Raghav 2.0' also collected fairly less at the box office. Considering, 'Manmarziyaan' is Kashyap's first romantic-drama, the numbers are pretty impressive.
