'Manmarziyaan' team served with a notice by J&K Tourism Board
Anurag Kashyap's upcoming directorial venture 'Manmarziyaan' has landed in a legal soup. The Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Board has issued a notice to the team for shooting in the prohibited area of Thajiwas glacier. An explanation is being demanded from the makers on how they procured required permissions to shoot in the ecologically sensitive zone. Here are the details.
The local administration is said be at fault
Faiz Bakshi, a local environmentalist, raised a PIL alleging that the 'Manmarziyaan' team flouted the rules on April 18. "This is a lapse on the part of the local administration. It's a gated property. So obviously, someone higher up allowed them to enter. I won't blame the filmmaker as the unit couldn't have done it by themselves," he said.
The makers have defended themselves
The spokesperson of Aanand L Rai's Colour Yellow Productions said, "Proper permissions were in place from both the Department of Tourism and Department of Wildlife Protection in Kashmir. We were sensitive about shooting there and followed all the terms and conditions put forward." 'Manmarziyaan' is being jointly produced by Colour Yellow Productions and Kashyap's Phantom Films. It stars Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal.
