Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, will not be joining the cast of Guy Ritchie's Netflix series The Gentlemen for its third season, reported Vanity Fair and The New Yorker former editor-in-chief, Tina Brown. She wrote on Saturday on Substack, "I learned this morning that the casting of Meghan Markle in season 3 of Guy Ritchie's Netflix series The Gentlemen has been withdrawn." "The backlash in the UK was so intense, it became untenable to go forward."

The news comes a day after reports emerged that Markle was in talks to return to acting with The Gentlemen.
Variety had reported that she was in discussions for the show's third season, which is yet to be officially greenlit.
Notably, Markle and Prince Harry signed a new multi-year film and television deal with Netflix last year.
Their projects with the streamer include Harry & Meghan and Live to Lead, among others.
